EPCOT - WORLD SHOWCASE
Epcot's showcase helps to give you a whirlwind tour to 12 countries of the world. Set around the World Showcase Lagoon each exhibit tells its own story about one or more aspects of the country in question together with local foods, art and culture - and each country has its own shops selling national souvenirs. What adds to the realism is that nationals from the actual country staff each area.

Whatever you do don't miss this, the finale of each day at Epcot is the stunning Illuminations show. Set on, over and around the Showcase Lagoon this combination of fireworks, lasers and music is truly spectacular. So good is it that the best viewing spots are taken up to ninety minutes in advance. If your tall this isn't too much of a problem, however if you have children it is worth picking a good spot and hanging on to it as much of the action takes place at lake level. The success of the Millennium Illuminations show has led to it being retained, with some changes, for the foreseeable future.

The key feature of the Canada exhibit is the "O Canada" 360 degree cinema which gives you a stunning overview of the country from the air. Also look out for the miniature exhibits of key Canadian landmarks.

Perhaps best known for its traditional English pub, the Rose and Crown , the UK exhibit features lots of quaint buildings and shops. If you are lucky you may get to take part in a short Shakespeare show!

Here you will find a superb recreation of Paris complete with its own Eiffel Tower. Pavement cafes, street entertainers, wonderful French cuisine all add to the atmosphere. The impressive Palais du Cinema shows a film of France and French life.

A lovely exhibit with some superb gardens and quiet walks featuring a traditional Japanese pagoda, art gallery and traditional entertainment.

Highlight of the USA is the American Adventure Show, a superb show featuring a journey through American history, using lots of Disney effects. Well worth seeing especially if you are into America's evolution. There is also an open air theatre. The showcase is housed in mock up of Philadelphia's Liberty Hall.

Dominating here is a recreation of the Temple of Heaven, Beijing. As with the Japanese exhibit, this area is a gardener's delight. Lovely walks and trees abound as do many other typically Chinese displays. The Wonders of China is a 360 degree film of Chinese life.

Here you will find the nearest thing to a theme park ride in the World Showcase, the much praised Maelstrom. This boat ride takes you on a boat journey through Norwegian history. At the end of the ride is a short film on Norway. Outside you can find a mock up of a Viking Longship.

The mock pyramid of Maya houses the Mexican exhibition. A thriving market full of colour, hustle and bustle greets you. Also here you will have the opportunity to ride the river of time 'El Rio de Tiempo, taking a boat journey through Mexican history.
